For more than six centuries, this people has lived next to us on Ukrainian lands, but it still remains shrouded in legends and myths.
As part of the Amala International Festival-2017, our team held a series of creative master classes in the walls of the Music and Drama Theater “Romance”.
Among the participants of the master classes were not only guests and spectators of the theater, but also artists, singers, dancers. The workshop was conducted by the artists Anna Radko and Tetiana Storozhko, who is also the inspirer and the head of the project.
While drawing, we had time to talk about what the caravans of Polish Roma were like, we learned about the traditions of nomadism in different countries. They studied the symbolism and beliefs of the Roma in nomadic times. Everyone present remembered the inspiring stories of Valery Sukhomlyniv. So, in particular, we learned what the “Scarecrow” was needed for – the dragon that was used to decorate the caravans (carriages of Polish Roma).
The caravan created by us remained in the theater in memory of the Amala-2017 festival, and all guests received postcards created by our own hands using the linocut technique.
