The Festival of Cultures of Podil in 2016 became a significant event that brought together representatives of various ethnic groups in Kyiv. Organized with the aim of showcasing the richness and diversity of the cultural heritage of this district, the festival impressed guests with its unique traditions, customs, and arts.
During the festival, various events took place, including musical performances, dance shows, craft workshops, and tasting of national cuisine. Festival participants showcased their traditional costumes, handmade crafts, and performed folk songs and dances that captured the authentic spirit of their cultures.
Our colleague Tetiana Storozhko joined the organization of the Romani art courtyard. For two days, the interest of festival visitors in the workshops conducted by Tetiana did not wane, especially among children and youth. While creating compositions and authentic decorations, there was plenty of time to talk about the traditions and culture of the Romani people.
The Festival of Cultures of Podil in 2016 in Kyiv unquestionably became a separate platform for communication, understanding, and exchange of experiences among different ethnic groups. It was a wonderful opportunity for festival guests to learn more about the culture and traditions of the Roma people, who have been an integral part of the ethno-cultural diversity of Kyiv and other regions of the country for centuries.
